I love to create one of a kind jewelry that is elegant, earthy, edgy and feminine.

I am a painter and silversmith living in Portland, Oregon. I have spent a lifetime in the practice of studio painting, all the while harboring a desire to become an artisan jewelry maker as well. I finally heeded that call about six years ago when I took a silversmithing class here in Portland. From that moment my obsession with metal fabrication and jewelry making exploded. Ghostdog Jewelry was born from my lifelong love of adornment and admiration for the artistry of hand fabricated metal work, be it jewelry or that of artisan blacksmiths and their incredible ornamental iron work. I hand-fabricate every piece of Ghostdog Jewelry with great care and intention in my small studio using a torch, a hammer, an anvil and my own hands. Working primarily with sterling silver and gorgeous stones and beads that I collect obsessively, I approach each piece individually, allowing a stone to direct me into the design that complements its individual beauty. I spend countless hours considering the construction and craftsmanship of each piece of jewelry I build. I love Art Deco design and folk art, abstract painting, Expressionism, primitive drawings and strong lines and geometry. My approach to jewelry making has been influenced by my painting process. Compositions become apparent to me as I begin to work and I follow that process where it takes me. For this reason I don't do custom work. I love to build jewelry around elements that captivate me and I hope they will captivate you too.

Thank you for taking time to visit my shop. Diane

The original Ghostdog

Mingus, the original ghost-faced ghost-dog was my true blue studio mate and the inspiration behind the name Ghostdog Jewelry.
